On event day, spectators are typically the largest client group present in a venue. For major events, many attendees may be first-time visitors to the host city or stadium, navigating unfamiliar environments under time pressure.
This challenge is compounded when venues are temporarily altered to accommodate increased attendance, additional security measures, broadcast infrastructure, segregation requirements, or revised access routes. These overlays often change familiar patterns and invalidate prior knowledge held by returning fans.
The result is a contact zone where unfamiliar layouts, high-density conditions, sensory stimulation, and emotional anticipation converge. In such environments, uncertainty increases, reliance on staff grows, and tolerance for ambiguity decreases.
