As part of a wider effort to standardise Safety and Security practices and strengthen operational consistency across professional football clubs, the Saudi Pro League and Al Qadsiah FC engaged in targeted capacity-building initiatives.
Between July and November 2025, I worked as a Safety & Security Consultant with both entities to develop and professionalise training and operational documentation, aligning club-level practices with league requirements and international best practice.
Key Outputs
Review and update of Safety & Security training manuals aligned with SPL Operational Guidelines
Development of role-specific training content addressing identified operational gaps
Delivery of practical and theoretical training sessions at league-level events
Design of certification exam questions aligned with role requirements
Drafting of Safety & Security SOPs aligned with international standards and ISO 9001 principles
This work supported the formalisation of Safety and Security competencies at club level and reinforced the role of structured training and SOPs as critical enablers of consistent, auditable, and high-quality event operations.
UEFA’s Club Finals and the Nations League Final in the summer of 2023 comprised a series of high-profile, single-match events delivered in different host cities within condensed timelines, from May to July.
Each final required rapid mobilisation, strong local integration, and the ability to deliver consistent Spectator Services despite differing venues, organisers, and local operating models.
In my role as UEFA Spectator Services Specialist, I was responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the delivery of Spectator Services across all 2023 Club Finals and the 2023 Nations League Final.
Key Outputs
Event-specific Spectator Services delivery plans aligned to UEFA standards
Coordination of training approaches for paid staff and volunteers
Validation of equipment, signage, space, and material requirements per venue
Operational oversight, issue tracking, and post-event reporting across all finals
The work reinforced the scalability of UEFA’s Spectator Services model and demonstrated its applicability to both tournament-style programmes and standalone, high-intensity events.
UEFA EURO 2020 was a multi-host international football tournament across eleven Host Cities in Europe between 2018 and 2021.
The decentralised delivery model required close coordination between UEFA, Host Cities, venue operators, and public authorities, while maintaining consistent operational standards across diverse local contexts.
As UEFA’s Spectator Services Specialist at , I was responsible for planning and delivering the first centrally coordinated Spectator Services programme in the organisation’s history.
Key Outputs
Central Spectator Services project plan and delivery framework
Standardised service definitions for wayfinding, information provision, ushering, service points, and lost & found
Training frameworks for paid staff and volunteers
Equipment, signage, space, and material specifications for stadium operations
Project monitoring, risk and issue reporting, and post-event knowledge capture
As a result, Spectator Services became established as a structured and recognised planning function within the tournament delivery model.
The programme enabled a consistent baseline of service delivery across all Host Cities and created a repeatable approach that informed the planning and delivery of Spectator Services for subsequent UEFA competitions and Club Finals.
Between 2013 and 2018, three major international sporting events were planned and delivered under complex, multi-stakeholder operating models: the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014, the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
These events required venue-based delivery of Spectator Services within highly integrated environments, bringing together organising committees, venue operators, public authorities, and multiple functional areas, all operating under significant operational and reputational pressure.
As a member of the Spectator Services teams across these events, I contributed to, and, at venue level, led, the planning and delivery of Spectator Services operations.
Key Outputs
Development and alignment of operational processes, procedures, and systems
Production of venue-level operational documentation
Definition of equipment, signage, space, and material requirements
Delivery of training for paid staff and volunteers
Game-day operational coordination, oversight, and reporting
This work established a strong operational foundation in venue-based Service planning and delivery and reinforced the role of Spectator Services as an integral component of safe, coordinated, and high-quality event operations.
